Why mindset is so importantdaisycartierJan 19, 20232 min readUpdated: Jan 25, 2023“ Your body is more capable than you think. Convince your mind and the body will follow. Turning your life around is 5% physical and 95% mental. Your mind is either your ally or your enemy.” I read this from Dr. James DiNicolantonio, and it is wildly true. Reading is something that never really came easily to me. I also truly didn’t love it. I’d get so bored! I’d read a sentence and then question what I even read, and then have to read it over again. When I had kids, I thought there would be no way that I could read with the limited time that I had. When I became a coach, one of the key 4 vital behaviors is “personal development”. This is a part that so many new coaches skip, but that ends up being the biggest mistake. It is honestly the most vital behavior of a coach. Rather than letting my limiting beliefs that I didn’t identify as a “reader”, that I didn’t have enough time or that I wasn’t good at it let me hold me back, I basically applied the same skills from what makes someone successful with fitness take over. 1. I told myself I was a “reader”. My identity was now a reader even if I hadn’t felt that yet. I basically would do things I thought real readers would be. (Have stacks of books, bring them along with them where they went, etc). 2. Small steps. I would just read 10 pages after bed time or in the morning. 3. I found ways to make it work for me. Podcasts and Audible have been super helpful for on the go, during household tasks or in the shower. When someone starts our groups they are given all of the tools: amazing workout plans, accountability, support, nutrition plans, plant-based supplement options, but if mindset work is not at the forefront we are depriving ourselves of THE most important part. If we say that we don’t have time for that, that usually means we are the ones who actually need it the *most*. xo, Daisy
